Hi fam, I
hope you are having a wonderful holiday? I am calling it a holiday instead of a
lockdown because a lockdown sounds more like I have been put in a prison and a
holiday seems more pleasant in my ears. Over the past few weeks, there have
been numerous reports in the news about the constant increase of the spread of covid-19, deaths and recoveries(and I am so grateful
to God that there have been more recoveries than deaths) but these are not the things
I will be focusing on now.
My rant: This
evening, I was going through twitter and I came across some tweets that was
really sad to see and quite annoying (honestly, I feel angry).
Firstly, in
a tweet by Fisayo Soyombo (click the link for details) Fisayo Soyombo , he talked about Oyo state’s 1st
COVID-19 death and how he lied about some basics of his movements and health status to health
officials (may the soul of the departed rest in peace). His actions have put a
lot of people at risk to the virus and I cannot help but wonder why he did not come
clean in the first place, or follow instructions so he would not infect others.
I am also angry and not satisfied with NCDC, telling people to self-isolate while waiting for
test results. It is definitely not the best way to go about things especially since there have been reports of people not being truthful about their travel history and heath status. Why can’t the NCDC isolate
them in the isolation centres (separate from those who are receiving treatment) and if they test negative, they can be released.
Secondly, a
police woman reportedly got shot (eye- witness account) by another policeman in
Port Harcourt Fufilled Son, the woman was reportedly pleading on behalf of a shoe maker who was
being arrested by the governor’s task force who came to chase people who were
selling in the market. Sadly, the woman had just breastfed her 2-year old child
(who she keeps with a shop keeper) before she was shot. The question here is; what
kind of anger would trigger a police man to shoot someone who is not a threat
to your life? It was also reported that people started running for their lives
as they started arresting people. This has been a constant sad event to always
follow even when the police make mistakes with little compensation for the family
of the deceased. I can only pray God delivers this nation and grant us a leader
who will be bold enough to do a complete police reform, re-organization, and
whatever overhauling needs to be done.
If those who
are meant to protect citizens are the ones causing more damage, who will the
masses call to or trust for help when the need arises?
No matter
where you are and who you are, please be a responsible citizen, stay safe and
follow the proper guidelines and precautions.
Do you have
any rants, worries or concerns about this period, please feel free to share them in the comments
section. Thank you💙
